Summer Riding Camp

BarGee Farms is proud to offer week-long riding camp sessions for the summer of 2016. Campers will learn valuable horsemanship skills, including lessons on horse care, equine anatomy, barn management and more.  

Four day camp packages include specialized hour-long riding lessons each day, outdoor activities, arts and crafts, horsemanship lessons, and of course, lots of barn time with an emphasis on safety and fun. Come meet other horse-crazy friends and spend the summer the best way we know how - on horseback!

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Campers will have the opportunity to take a 1 hour group riding lesson every day during with Toni Humes, one of BarGee’s accredited and experienced trainers. The rest of the camp session will include arts and crafts activities, outdoor games and horsemanship lessons. Campers will learn important lessons in horse care, equine anatomy, and barn management in a fun environment surrounded by other “horsey” friends!
BarGee Farms is currently offering two, four day sessions for the summer of 2016:

June 28th – July 1st
July 12th – July 15th

Camp runs from 9am – 12pm during both sessions.

2016 summer camp at BarGee farms costs $350 per-child. A $50 deposit is required to secure your child’s spot in their desired camp session, with the remaining $300 balance due on the first day of camp.

This fee covers lesson & equipment costs, arts and crafts materials, and snacks for the campers.

BarGee Farms summer camp is open to riders of all skill levels, although campers must be at least six years old to attend. Toni will tailor the daily group riding lesson to fit the needs of the campers so they can comfortably learn at their own pace in a safe environment.
We request that all children bring a lunch with them to camp. Snacks will be provided during the day. Helmets are available at the farm for use, although children are welcome to bring their own if desired. Closed-toe shoes with a small heel (such as paddock boots) and long pants or jeans are required on the farm. Parents are also encouraged to send along sunscreen, rain gear, or other weather-appropriate attire depending on the forecast.

Meet The Counselors


Toni Humes

Grandmother and mentor, Toni has been teaching at BarGee Farms since its opening in 1991. She has taught students who have excelled in the pony hunters, childrens hunter, junior hunter, equitation, and high level jumpers.

 

She has been unforgettably instrumental in the successful training of many young horses and riders at BarGee Farms, and imparts on her students a strong work ethic, correct technique, and a love for the sport. Toni regularly teaches both group and private riding lessons.

Alessandra Valdez

Alessandra is a rising senior at Fox Chapel High School who has spent her entire life around horses at BarGee. She is involved in many community outreach programs, including teaching young equestrians about good horsemanship, equine anatomy, and horse care in the evenings after school.

 

An accomplished equestrian and horsewoman, Alessandra has her sights set on college and Vet school in her future. She is excited to share her knowledge of equine anatomy and care with campers this summer.
